Educational Qualification for UPSSSC ASO 2026
- Assistant Statistical Officer (ASO): Postgraduate (Master's) Degree in Statistics / Mathematics / Mathematical Statistics / Economics / Commerce from a UGC-recognised university. Additionally, a computer proficiency certificate — either DOEACC/NIELIT 'O' Level or a 1-year Computer Science Diploma — is mandatory. Knowledge of Hindi in Devanagari script is required.
- Assistant Research Officer – Statistics (ARO): Same as ASO — PG Degree in Mathematics / Mathematical Statistics / Commerce / Economics / Statistics from a recognised university + 'O' Level Computer Diploma (DOEACC) or 1-year Computer Science Diploma.
PET 2025 Mandatory Requirement
This recruitment is strictly for the Main Examination. Candidates must have appeared in UPSSSC PET 2025 and hold a valid PET scorecard issued by the Commission. Candidates who did not appear in PET 2025 are not eligible to apply for UPSSSC ASO Recruitment 2026, regardless of other qualifications.
UPSSSC ASO Salary 2026 – Pay Scale, Allowances & Benefits
The UPSSSC ASO Salary 2026 is governed by the 7th Pay Commission pay matrix. Both ASO and ARO posts are at Pay Level 6.
Along with the basic pay, selected candidates receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Medical Allowance, and other state government perks including pension benefits, leave encashment, and job security under UP government service rules.
UPSSSC ASO ARO 2026 Selection Process – PET to Main Exam
The UPSSSC ASO selection process 2026 is a three-stage process. Importantly, there is no interview in this recruitment.
- Stage 1 – PET 2025 Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on their normalised score in PET 2025. Up to 15 times the number of vacancies per category are called for the Main Exam. All candidates scoring up to the last cutoff (up to two decimal places) are included.
- Stage 2 – Main Written Examination: Online (CBT) objective-type MCQ exam. This is the primary selection stage. No interview is conducted.
- Stage 3 – Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted after the Main Exam are called for DV. Original certificates (degree, PET scorecard, computer certificate, age proof, category certificate) are verified.
- Final Merit List: Prepared based on Main Exam performance only. Candidates are allocated to departments based on merit and their stated preferences.
