SSC Selection Post Phase 14 2026 -- Section Wise Exam Pattern
The CBE is divided into 4 equal sections. Each section carries 25 questions for a total of 50 marks per section. A strict sectional timer of 15 minutes applies to each section. Candidates cannot revisit previous sections once the sectional time is over.
| Section | Subject | Questions | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| Part B | General Awareness | 25 | 50 | 15 minutes |
| Part C | Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic) | 25 | 50 | 15 minutes |
| Part D | English Language (Basic Knowledge) | 25 | 50 | 15 minutes |
| Total | -- | 100 | 200 | 60 minutes |
Note: For Graduate level posts, Parts A, B, and D are set at Graduation difficulty. Part C (Quantitative Aptitude) is set at 10th standard level for all post levels.
SSC Selection Post Phase 14 2026 -- Marking Scheme and Negative Marking
Understanding the marking scheme is critical to your exam strategy. The penalty for wrong answers is 0.50 marks, which is lower than SSC CGL (-1 mark) but still significant at scale.
| Answer Type | Marks |
|---|---|
| Correct Answer | +2 marks |
| Wrong Answer | -0.50 marks |
| Unanswered / Skipped | 0 marks |
The marks scored in the CBE are normalized using SSC's official formula if the exam is conducted in multiple shifts. Normalization adjusts for difficulty variations across shifts and is used to prepare the final merit list.
| Category | Minimum Qualifying Marks (%) | Minimum Qualifying Marks (out of 200) |
|---|---|---|
| UR / General | 30% | 60 marks |
| OBC / EWS | 25% | 50 marks |
| SC / ST / PwBD / ESM | 20% | 40 marks |
Note: These are minimum qualifying marks only. Candidates must score the actual post-wise cut off to get selected. Minimum qualifying marks do not guarantee selection.
SSC Selection Post Phase 14 2026 -- Syllabus for Matric, 12th, and Graduate Level

SSC Selection Post Phase 14 2026 -- Skill Test and Typing Test Details
The Skill Test (Typing Test / Data Entry Test / Computer Proficiency Test) is conducted only for specific posts that require it as a job function. It is qualifying in nature -- it does not add marks to the merit score. Only candidates who clear the CBE cut off are called for the Skill Test.
| Skill Test Type | Applicable Posts | Nature |
|---|---|---|
| Typing Test (English) | Posts requiring English typing speed (e.g., Stenographer related posts) | Qualifying only |
| Typing Test (Hindi) | Posts requiring Hindi typing speed | Qualifying only |
| Data Entry Speed Test | Posts like Data Entry Operator, DEO grade A | Qualifying only |
| Computer Proficiency Test | Posts requiring computer operation skills | Qualifying only |
Note: Skill Tests are conducted by the User Departments, not by SSC. Candidates who fail the Skill Test are disqualified from that specific post. Check the applicable skill test requirement for your chosen post in Annexure-III of the official notification.
SSC Selection Post Phase 14 2026 -- Normalization Formula Explained
Since SSC Phase 14 CBE is conducted in multiple shifts on multiple days, raw scores are normalized to ensure fairness across different question paper sets. The normalization formula published by SSC adjusts a candidate's score relative to the average difficulty of their shift.
Key points about normalization: The final merit list is based on normalized marks, not raw marks. If a candidate's shift had a harder paper, they benefit from upward normalization. Normalization is applied separately for each post level -- Matric, 12th, and Graduate. Candidates appearing in multiple level CBEs are considered separately for each level.
In case of a tie in normalized marks, SSC applies a tie-breaking formula in this order: (1) Total normalized marks; (2) Marks in Part A; (3) Marks in Part B; (4) Marks in Part C; (5) Date of Birth (older candidate preferred); (6) Alphabetical order of name.
